A Simple Woman

FOR TODAY

Outside my window...It is starting to cool off for the evening. We had some beautiful sunshine today.

I am thinking...About inner peace. We talked a lot about that at church today and it hit me. The world we live in is not peaceful. My heart doesn’t need to be like that too. The Lord wants us to be happy. He wants us to do our best but we being the humans that we are will fail at times.

I am thankful...For friends. I really don’t think life would be nearly as much fun without them.

In the kitchen...Not much is going on today. We went to a cousin’s 1st birthday party so I didn’t have to cook. That was kind of nice. Tomorrow I am going to deep clean it.

I am wearing...A really ugly outfit. It is a Miami Beach T-Shirt and red and black basketball shorts. It doesn’t even match but it’s really comfortable!

I am creating...A paper doll with my daughter. I love how creative she is. She found a paper doll and some felt and wanted to make a dress for it.

I am going...To drop the girls off at their grandma’s tomorrow so I can clean.

I am wondering...What to make for dinner when the Elder’s come tomorrow.

I am reading...Prelude to Glory Volume 2

I am hoping...That I can get the house clean tomorrow while the girls are gone.

I am looking forward to...Having family over for Sophie’s 3rd birthday.

I am learning…I am sometimes more prideful than I need to be.

Around the house...I have music on the piano, a book next to me, it is cool because we have had the air on this afternoon.

I am pondering...The things I learned in church today. I really thought the talks were well done and the lessons too! I am grateful that I was able to get refreshed and learn throughout the day.

A favorite quote for today... “Regardless of your particular circumstances, as you become more and more familiar with the truths of the scriptures, you will be more and more effective in keeping the second great commandment, to love your neighbor as yourself. Become scholars of the scriptures—not to put others down, but to lift them up! After all, who has any greater need to “treasure up” the truths of the gospel (on which they may call in their moments of need) than do women and mothers who do so much nurturing and teaching?”  (President Spencer W. Kimball, The Role of Righteous Women, General Conference, October 1979)

One of my favorite things… My girls, they are just plain cute!

A few plans for the rest of the week: A hike on Wednesday, Sophie’s family party on Saturday

A peek into my day... I am lucky enough to go to church next to this building every Sunday. It is the Temple and I love it.
